One of the things I love most about the masks I make is the fabric design placement. I gravitate towards unique, colorful prints when I’m picking fabrics for my designs. Sometimes it’s the fabric that inspires me to make what I do. I love that my masks are really bespoke and that even though many masks can be cut from the same cloth, no two are the same.
I began sewing when I was a young child but got really inspired to do more and design while living in the California Bay Area where I started taking classes at a local college. My design process is to find something that inspires me whether it’s a fabric, place or something out of nature and then create a garment from there.
My design aesthetic is modern-feminine, classic. I appreciate the structure of classic design but like to put a modern edge on it using floral, organic, flowing shapes or detail. I want my designs to be the favorites in people’s closets; the piece that they see and think, “Oh, I have to have it! I would wear that all the time!”, because they love it so much and feel confident and amazing when they wear it.
Iris Apfel is an inspiration of mine. She knows what her style is and has impeccable taste. She wears whatever regardless- and doesn’t make any apologies for staying true to herself.
